What a Spring, Summer and start of Autumn that was…

Yep, I’ve been busy.

From being made redundant in May to turning in two drafted novels within a fortnight of each other in September PLUS a copy edit of another entire book, interspersed with a heatwave that was frankly rude, it’s been a mad gallop through 2022.

That said, all being well I should have THREE ENTIRE NOVELS published in 2023 – both The Jaguar Path and the concluding book 3 of Songs of the Drowned (February and December respectively) and another Marvel novel in around May. Hooray! That’s about 450,000 words from my brain to yours. Seems like a pretty sweet deal and you should probably smash pre-order buttons as soon as possible…

As you might know, I also wrote and launched my first online writing course, which has been going extremely well and I’ve been lucky to mentor a group of very talented writers. Check out my Writing Course page for more details.

I’m currently developing a Writing Action and Combat mini course and a longer Voice and Character course, so stay tuned. You can sign up to my writing course newsletter for more information about those.

I’m starting a new job in mid-October which is going to seriously impact my available writing time, but contrary to popular belief, not all writers are millionaires and the cost of living crisis is not ignorable. So, less time to write, but more financial security. I can live with that. As in, I can actually live, which is a bonus. As much as I’d love to be able to tell stories from beyond the grave, I’d get paid even less than I do now…

I’ll be making an appearance at Bristolcon on 29 October. I won’t be on any panels and I’m only there for the day, unfortunately, but it would be awesome to catch up with as many of you as possible if you’re going to be around. Let me know and we’ll have a drink and a chat.

I’m also signed up for TBRCon23, streamed live online in January, where I’ll be moderating a wicked-sounding panel. More details when I have them.

That’s it from me for now – stay safe, stay warm, good luck! x
