Worlds Apart – worldbuilding in SFF

Worlds Apart is my worldbuilding writing course. It’s an eight-week course distilling everything I’ve learned since my debut novel came out in 2017. I’ve probably made every mistake there is over the course of the last six published novels, so why not learn from me what not to do?

Each of the eight sessions covers a different aspect of worldbuilding, from the ground (literally and figuratively) up. We’ll look at culture, how to research, info-dump v drip-feed, conflicts, natural resources and much more. 

There are three payment tiers available, as follows. Please note that there is a pay by card function available, though my preferred payment method is via PayPal, which gives you the PayPal guarantee at the same time so you know it’s safe: 

Bronze Package

• Eight pre-recorded video lessons, each covering a different aspect of worldbuilding, released once a week
• Eight accompanying workbooks with headings and space for note-taking and tips, asides, and bad puns, probably
• Eight exercises to consolidate what you’ve learnt and begin to build a comprehensive world for your novel.
  • If you complete each exercise in full, by the end of the course you’ll have an approximately 12,000 word long ‘style guide’ covering all aspects of your world that you can refer back to whenever necessary
• Access to a Discord server to chat with me and others on the course

Silver Package

• Eight pre-recorded video lessons followed by a live Q&A a few days later with me and a group of up to only six students. Each session covers a different aspect of worldbuilding and you can ask for clarification, disagree, debate, and refer the content directly to your WIP
• Eight accompanying workbooks with headings and space for note-taking and tips, asides, and bad puns, probably
• Eight exercises to consolidate what you’ve learnt and begin to build a comprehensive world for your novel.
  • If you complete each exercise in full, by the end of the course you’ll have an approximately 12,000 word long ‘style guide’ covering all aspects of your world that you can refer back to whenever necessary
• In-line commentary and approximately half-page feedback from me on each exercise submitted, discussing aspects of your worldbuilding, questions you might like to think about, points of clarification, and thoughts on writing style
• Access to a Discord server to chat with me and others on the course

Gold Package

• Eight pre-recorded video lessons followed by a live 1-2-1 Q&A with me a few days later. Each session covers a different aspect of worldbuilding and we can dissect the content and relate it specifically to your WIP if you have one, or do the work to plan your next project
• Eight accompanying workbooks with headings and space for note-taking and tips, asides, and bad puns, probably
• Eight exercises to consolidate what you’ve learnt and begin to build a comprehensive world for your novel.
  • If you complete each exercise in full, by the end of the course you’ll have an approximately 12,000 word long ‘style guide’ covering all aspects of your world that you can refer back to whenever necessary
• In-line commentary and one-page feedback on your worldbuilding, writing style, and things to think about
